Baby Words

September8

Lia Summer 2009It’s been a long time since I’ve written here. My grammy told my dad that she missed reading stuff here about me, so he’s helping me now to write this here. I should’ve written about a lot of stuff like my new potty that I’m not really using yet or the pet mouse that my cat caught that ended up being my pet for a week. The mouse is gone now though. Mommy says the mouse went to Hawaii to visit his mommy.

So daddy says we’re gonna write about baby words. The baby words I stopped using and the baby words I still use. I don’t say “semi” any more for the number seven and I don’t say “di-mee” for the word diamond. I know the real words now. I can say “music” now – I used to call it “meek”. I don’t even say fickits anymore. I know how to say “fix it.”

But there are still a few baby words that I use. One of my dad’s favorite is “A-B-Songs”, which is what I call the alphabet song. Old MacDonald used to be my favorite song, but for the past year or so my new favorite is A-B-Songs. I also can’t say “Band Aid” yet. I need them a lot cause I’m always falling down, but I call a Band Aid “abandon”. Like this: “Mommy! Booboo! Need a bandon!”

Also, for the longest time, I’d go around saying “Sue me! Sue me!” and my mommy and daddy didn’t know what I was trying to say. Then one day while I was saying it and trying to push past another kid on the playground, my dad figured it out. I was trying to say “excuse me”. Yeah. I still say “sue me”.

There are some other words I say that my mommy and daddy think are really cute, like “beddy buddin”, but that’s most of them. Bye!

Sleep Ritual

June11

I’m in Connecticut with my mom right now, visiting my Grammy and Papa, and my dad isn’t flying out here until two more days. He says he misses me. I think that’s why he’s putting up this video of my sleep ritual that we do every night before I go to bed.

Second Birthday

May31

I’m two years old now! My dad wanted to share some videos of me opening my presents.

In the first video, I open a card and a photo from my Grammy and pepere, but my papa calls to say happy birthday and we have to stop recording and take a break. The second part is of me opening the present from my grammy and pepere. Grammy and pepere gave me watercolor paints and a Dora the explorer bath toy set . That’s what I play with when I’m in the bath now – I like taking the flippers off Dora’s feet and putting them back on. Next, I opened my present from Papa and Nana. It’s a singing flower that sings “You are my sunshine”. I love my flower. Last, I opened the present from mommy and daddy. It’s a car that races around a track. Yay birthday! Yay two!

Here are all the videos.

The Zoo

May28

Daddy and Mommy brought me to the zoo a few days ago. It was fun. My dad put up pictures that you can see by clicking here. Okay, bye!

Lots of Pictures

April20

My dad just set up this thing so you can look at lots of pictures of me on my website. Right now the only way to get there is by clicking here, but he’s gonna make a better way later.

Don’t Like Cactus

April3

Lia's HandA couple days ago, I had a really tough afternoon. See my hand in the picture here? That’s my booboo hand.

I was out with daddy, getting firewood like we always do, except I had my ball with me and I was playing, throwing it around. It was really windy that day, like it always is in Colorado, and my ball blew out away from the house, where there’s a lot of scrub and little bushes and old dead cactuses and stuff. I ran after my ball, and tripped, and fell right into a bunch of little cactus plants.

I started crying right away, and daddy left the firewood and came to get me and brought me inside. Then he saw all the cactus needles in me. There were a whole bunch that went through my pants and got my thigh, and there was even one stuck in my forehead. But the worst was my left hand. There were at least sixty tiny needles stuck in my hand, mostly in my palm at the base of my thumb. They were really tiny needles, almost like hairs. Daddy had to help hold me down while mommy pulled them all out with tweezers. It really hurt a lot.

Afterwards, I took a nap, and when I woke up I felt mostly better. I like to point out my booboos, but they don’t hurt like they used to. Daddy took me out and showed me the cactus and told me to stay away from them cause they’re sharp and they hurt. I hope I don’t forget and go over there again.

Learning More and More

March23

My dad says I’m a sponge. That’s really weird, cause I think a sponge is the thing I use to clean my chalkboard, and I don’t think I’m anything like that. But anyway, I want to tell you all the stuff I’ve been learning recently.

Yesterday, I counted to ten for the first time. Actually I counted to ogi. Like this: One… twoo… feee… four… five… six… semee… eight… niine… tenn… ogi! My dad called my mom to come and hear me count. I did it a few times, and we clapped and said “YAAAAYY!”

I also said “I love you” for the first time last week. Actually, I said “I… ove… you!!” cause I can’t say the letter L yet. But I can look at most letters and say what they are. I don’t know lower case letters and I’m still working on G, L, S, T, and V, and sometimes I get E and F confused with each other, but my mom and dad say that I’m doing really well.

Singing my ABCs

March19

I’m real good at singing my ABCs now. This is a video my dad took a couple weeks ago. I’m even better now.

I Can Count!

February24

Here’s another video – I start off singing “Twinkle Twinkle”, and looking through my book of nursery rhymes. Then I turn the page and start counting the hearts on the king and queen of hearts. Last, I do the sign language for a swing when it comes on my TV.

Sign Language

February19

This is a video of me watching my Baby Einstein video and doing the sign language for bowl, chair and table. I didn’t do the sign for cup right in this video, but I know how.
