Here follows an exchange between my dad and myself at the grocery store. Coming out, I was sitting in the shopping cart and dad pushed us up next to our car.
Dad: “Okay, Lia. I’m gonna put the groceries in the car, then I’m gonna put you in the car.” Me: “Don’t put me in the car!” Dad: “Lia, we’re going home! What, do you want to stay here in the parking lot all by yourself?”
Here, I stopped for a few seconds and just thought.
Me: “What happens I stay here by myself?” Dad: “Lia. I’d never leave you here by yourself.” Me: “But what happen me you leave me here by myself?” Dad: “I would never leave you all alone. I love you. I always want to protect you.” Me: “Daddy! What happens me I stay here by myself?” Dad: “Daddy or Mommy would come find you. We want to keep you safe.” Me: “Bad people come get me?” Dad: “If you were here all by yourself, you should go find a police man to help you.”
My dad can be so frustrating sometimes. All I was looking for was a simple straight answer.
I’m getting potty trained. I go pee pee on the potty all the time now. I stayed dry for a whole week and I wear big girl underwear now! I was so good that daddy and mommy took me to the mall to buy Woody and Buzz Lightyear!
I want to tell you about my stars. I have a piece of paper now with the days inside squares and when I go peepee on the potty I get a star! Mommy and Daddy help me get a star and put it on the paper. It’s a calendar. When I get ten stars you know what happens? You know what happens?!!? I get to go to the store and get a toy or book or train. I went peepee on the potty ten times and got ten stars and this weekend we went in the car to go to the store.
In the car, when daddy told me we were going to a toy store, I thought he was making a joke. I laughed. There’s not really a store that sells only toys. Right?
But there was a toy store and I saw Woody and Buzz and a lot of balls and dolls and cars and books. Then I saw the Thomas train table and dad says I made a “shriek of delight”. There was Gordon and Salty and Percy and Billy there! I played with the trains and we were gonna buy the troublesome trucks but then I said I wanted the hula hoop instead so we got the hula hoop. It’s fun.
Dad: “What are you doing there?” Me: “I just walkin’” Dad: “Where you walkin’ to?” Me: “The duck factory.” Dad: “The duck factory? Do they make ducks there?” Me: “One. Just one.”
Somewhere, there is a factory that exists to manufacture a single duck.
I have a new house now. It’s for mommy and daddy and Bender and Tonga and me! We live here all together. It was fun when we were living at Omi’s house cause I got to play with Emmy and Bobby but I’m so happy now cause I got my daddy back.
In the daytime, daddy eats breakfast with us then he goes to work and I play while mommy does work on her computer. Sometimes mommy plays with me and sometimes I get time out cause I’m not supposed to hurt Bender. And then I take a nap and then I wake up and later daddy comes home. Sometimes we walk from our house to the grocery store and buy dinner. My daddy taught me what is a crosswalk and how to watch the red hand on the sign so you know when to walk. At night I brush my teeth all by myself and sometimes I go pee pee on the potty and mommy’s happy and daddy’s happy and we dance. Then it’s dark and it’s my bedtime and I dream about butterflies and blue skies and Thomas.
I’m a big girl now. Today was my third day of going pee pee on the potty. But my favorite part is I get to wear big girl underwear now! WOOHOO!! Some have hearts and some have little monkeys and some are green with a white curly doggy that mommy says is named Poodle. When I get even older than 2 my mommy says I can get the underwears at Victoria’s secret place. I don’t know who Victoria is yet, but if it is a secret place then there must be fun stuff in it!
There have been no videos for a long time cause my dad was having trouble getting the movies out of our camera and onto the internets. Now, because my dad is using a different program, the movies all run together. But at least there’s movies.
First, there’s a two minute movie about me doing a puzzle and then dancing to R.E.M. on Sesame Street. Next, there’s a movie about me looking in my book and then looking around the house for the things in the book. Third, me talking on my phone. The fourth movie is me eating and talking about dinner.
This weekend was Halloween. On Friday I went trick or treating with miss Brenda and my friends Josh and Kimber. Miss Brenda dressed me up as an old lady, but my mom and dad weren’t there with the camera to take pictures. My dad has one picture on his phone, but he says he can’t get that one up onto the internets.
On Saturday night, there was a party at the cafe. Mommy and daddy and Lia were all butterflies! But daddy says he was really a moth. But I think he was a butterfly.

Halloween is fun, but I don’t really like eating candy so much yet. Except ems ems. I love to eat ems ems.
