New Look for LiaHowley.com

Thursday Nov 13, 2008

Daddy changed how my web site looks the other day and asked me to write about it. So… um… he changed it.

Guess what? Yesterday, when mom and dad put me down for a nap, I didn’t want to go to sleep. And since I have a big girl bed now, I just kept getting up. Eventually, they held me door closed cause they knew I’d go to sleep if I didn’t have anything to do. Cause I was tired. But I went over to my TV, turned it on, then turned the DVD player on and played my movie. Yay me!

So here’s a video of me playing with my cat Bender.

Big Girl

Friday Nov 7, 2008

I’m a big girl now. We moved to our new house in Buena Vista, and now I sleep in a big girl bed instead of a crib. It was weird at first, cause I’d wake up on the floor and not know what to do, but my mom and dad put all kinds of pillows around so I didn’t get hurt. Today, for the first time, I woke up myself, got out of bed, opened my door, and went down the hall to mom and dad’s room.

Our new place is fun. There’s a wood stove I had to learn to not touch, cause it’s hot! Ouch! And the stairs here only have three stairs, so I can go up and down and up and down them without worrying about falling down cause it’s a really short fall.

Sick

Tuesday Oct 7, 2008

I’ve got a cold again. Last night, I had a temperature of one hundred four point two degrees. Dad says that temperature probably only lasted for ten or fifteen minutes though, cause he put me in a warm bath, and poured water on my head when he washed my hair, and after I dried off my temperature was down a few degrees. And I’m getting baths now without the seat-thing in the tub! I can scooch all around the tub wherever I want now! It’s cool.

Today my dad stayed home from work with me and brought me to the doctor. The doctor makes me cry cause she’s poking things in my ears and shining lights in my eyes and she shoved some wooden pole down my throat. But they said I was fine I just have a really really sore throat. When we got back from the doctor I took a long nap for three and a half hours, and when I woke up my temperature was gone. Then later in the day I took another hour nap. I slept a whole lot!

But  after my second nap my dad brought me to the park again. I like the park cause I get to go on the swings and the big slides and see the ducks. When the ducks quack, I try to make the quack sound - I say “Bah bah bah bah bah!” It’s kind of like my kitty cats. When they meo, I meow back by saying “Bow. Bow.”

I’m glad my temperature is  gone.

Vocabulary

Monday Sep 22, 2008

My mom and dad have been talking a lot about how even though I don’t know a lot of words yet, I communicate very well. At first it was just rubbing my eyes when I was tired, waving goodbye, or pointing at things. But now I’ve started making a grab-gesture when I want more food and holding both arms up to be picked up, which is usually only when I want dad to dance with me.

Let me think… what words do I know?

  • E-I-O! - This was really my first word, and I still sing it all the time, although it’s sometimes E-I-Gao or E-I-Too.
  • W’tah? - This is how I ask what things are.
  • Mao - When I hear our kitties, I like to meow back at them.
  • Ba-too - I say this when I want food. I’m saying bottle, but it really means a sippy cup or any kind of food.
  • Daa! - This is one of the things I say most often. My mom and dad know it means I want them to take whatever I’m holding out to them. I’ll say “Daa!” and hold out my sippy cup when I’m done with it, or a book, or a torn up piece of tissue.
  • Hi - I like to say hi to strangers when we’re out shopping, or say hi to my mom or dad when they walk into the room.
  • Eye - I know where peoples’ eyes and mouth and nose and ears are now, but I can only say “eye”.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Monday Sep 8, 2008

Lia at the zooOn Labor Day weekend, my mom and dad brought me to the zoo again. This was a different zoo though, and this time it was all about the giraffes. Cause I got to pet them. It was a lot of fun. My dad just put up a whole lot of pictures. He put them on a site called Flicker cause he’s having trouble with the pictures on his own site. You can see the pictures if you click here. Bye!
