My mom and dad have been talking a lot about how even though I don’t know a lot of words yet, I communicate very well. At first it was just rubbing my eyes when I was tired, waving goodbye, or pointing at things. But now I’ve started making a grab-gesture when I want more food and holding both arms up to be picked up, which is usually only when I want dad to dance with me.
Let me think… what words do I know?
- E-I-O! – This was really my first word, and I still sing it all the time, although it’s sometimes E-I-Gao or E-I-Too.
- W’tah? – This is how I ask what things are.
- Mao – When I hear our kitties, I like to meow back at them.
- Ba-too - I say this when I want food. I’m saying bottle, but it really means a sippy cup or any kind of food.
- Daa! – This is one of the things I say most often. My mom and dad know it means I want them to take whatever I’m holding out to them. I’ll say “Daa!” and hold out my sippy cup when I’m done with it, or a book, or a torn up piece of tissue.
- Hi - I like to say hi to strangers when we’re out shopping, or say hi to my mom or dad when they walk into the room.
- Eye – I know where peoples’ eyes and mouth and nose and ears are now, but I can only say “eye”.
